This is a course in the traditional Ukrainian folk art - Petrykiv painting. It is a beautiful way to get closer to the Ukrainian culture.
What is Petrykiv?
Petrykiv is a traditional Ukraininan art for that is similar to the Swedish traditional "Kurbits" that you can find on Dalahästar. It has its roots in the 18th century and is first found in the Ukrainian village Petrykivka.
Course structure
- You will get an introduction and a background to Petrykiv and its origin and get acquainted with the wonderful people of Ukraine of the 18th century.
- Starting small with learning to make dabs (berries, drops, petals)
- Making patterns and then connecting it to a single picture
This course is in English
The course will be entirely in English, so for you to be able to follw you will need to speak and understand English.
Bring with you
What do you need to bring, beside your excitement and desire?
- Acrylic colours
- Brushes and palette (to mix the colours)
- A white plate/vase/bowl that can be used to paint on. Wooden or ceramic is best to start with.

Daria is from Ukraine and found shelter here in Sweden. She is a creative soul and attended art school and academy in Ukraine. She is eager to share part of her culture and knowledge with you.
